Asset One
Who we are

About Asset One

Practical experience. Independent thinking. Better asset decisions.

Asset One was created with a simple purpose: to help organisations improve the performance of their assets by combining real operational experience with practical engineering, maintenance and management system expertise.

We work alongside our clients to understand how equipment, maintenance, data, systems and people interact – then help solve the problems that prevent assets and organisations from performing as they should.

Our Story

Built from experience

Asset One was founded from first-hand experience of the challenges faced by asset-intensive organisations.

Our background is rooted in the operation, maintenance and management of complex equipment and facilities. We have worked within operational teams, led maintenance and asset management functions, delivered major improvement programmes and supported organisations through technical, operational and digital transformation.

That experience shaped Asset One.

We wanted to build a consultancy that was practical, independent and focused on delivery – combining strategic asset management thinking with the technical understanding required to make improvements work in the real world.

Today, Asset One supports clients across Asset Management, Equipment Management, Maintenance Management and Management Systems.

Our approach remains straightforward: understand the problem, work with the people who know the asset, apply the right level of engineering and governance, and deliver improvements that can actually be sustained.

A message from our Founder

Roy Milne

Founder & Director

Asset One came from more than 25 years of working with equipment, maintenance teams and asset management systems across complex operational environments.

Over that time, I repeatedly saw the same problem: organisations often had good people, capable equipment and significant investment in systems, but the connections between strategy, equipment, maintenance, data and decision-making were not always working as they should.

I created Asset One to help close those gaps.

Our approach is based on practical experience. We understand what it means to operate and maintain equipment, manage competing priorities, work with imperfect data and deliver improvement while the operation continues around you.

We are building Asset One for the long term – combining experienced people, practical consulting methods and digital engineering tools to help our clients make better decisions and achieve better performance from their assets.

Just as importantly, I believe a business should contribute to the communities in which it operates. As Asset One grows, we want our positive impact to grow with it.

Asset One and University of Aberdeen partnership

Strategic partnership with the University of Aberdeen

Asset One has formed a strategic partnership with the University of Aberdeen, bringing together academic research and practical industry experience to explore the future of asset management.

Together, we are working on a collaborative project to understand the possibilities of using Artificial Intelligence in Asset Management — examining how AI can support better decision-making, predictive maintenance, asset data management and operational performance across asset-intensive organisations.

As part of this partnership, Asset One also hosts a cohort of student interns each summer, offering practical placement opportunities within our consultancy. The programme gives students hands-on exposure to real asset management, engineering and digital projects, while supporting the development of the next generation of talent in our industry.

Local support. Wherever we operate.

Our community commitment is not intended to be limited to one city or one country.

As Asset One works with clients in different locations, we want to support good causes in the communities connected to our work. Our focus will remain on practical support, grassroots initiatives and organisations that make a genuine difference to the people around them.

We believe that being part of a business community also means being part of the wider community.
